Physical Education
The students participate in a specialist physical education program, which includes one lesson of PE each week and involves skill development in the following sporting activities...
Athletics Football Cricket Tee-ball Basketball Softball Hockey Soccer Gymnastics Dance Table-Tennis Volleyball Tennis Rugby Netball Sofcrosse
Within the PE curriculum students are given the opportunity to develop their whole body movement patterns, coordination skills, cooperation and team work skills, and their game play skills.
The team sports offered at St John's include cricket, softball, basketball, tennis, chess, football, netball and soccer. These are available to be played by students in Years 3-6 and are coached by parents from the school community.
Have-a-Go sports are also offered and they are tailored for those in Years 1 and 2. These sessions give students a chance to try a sport in a non-competitive setting for one term and gain a basic understanding of the sport and skills required to participate. These sessions are offered in cricket, basketball, fooball, netball, t-ball, soccer and tennis. Coaches who specialise in one of these sports are sourced from outside the school community to run the sessions.
