Library Lessons
Library lessons involve teaching students about the Library, how it is organized and how to access resources, and then information from those resources. Acknowledging use of resources is also an important teaching focus.
Research and information skills are taught in the context of units of inquiry, rather than each week as a stand alone subject. Lessons happen in the Library or classrooms, depending on the need of the class.
The role of the Teacher Librarian also involves selection, purchasing, processing and cataloguing of resources in the Library and other areas of the school. These resources are then circulated, maintained and repaired. Time is also spent finding resources for units of inquiry and developing documents to assist staff, like book lists.
Book Week
Book Week is celebrated in Term 3, Week 5 and this year’s theme is ‘One World, Many Stories’. Students will participate in a range of special activities during week 4 and 5, including an illustrator visit, book fair and grandparent’s morning.
